The PADI Freediver course takes 3 days to complete.

After you book, you’ll get access to PADI Freediver eLearning. Complete all required knowledge reviews and the final exam before your first meeting with your instructor. The eLearning materials are yours to keep so you can reference them anytime.

Day One

Classroom Session | 12 PM to 6 PM

A relaxed and fun classroom session! We’ll review Freediving Theory, Breath Hold Techniques, and Safety Protocols.

Day Two

Pool Training Session | 8 AM to 4 PM

In the confined water session, you’ll get to practice breath hold techniques in the pool.

Goal: static apnea of 90 seconds, dynamic apnea of 25 meters / 80 feet.

Day Three

Open Water Training | 7 AM to 1:30 PM

Now that you feel confident freediving in the pool, we’ll head out to the ocean to practice free immersion and constant weight freedives, while learning proper buddy procedures.

Goal: constant weight freedive of 10 meters / 30 feet

Your instructor will be available after the course to offer you guidance on continued development, freediving progression planning, freediving gear advice, and other consultations!

FAQs

The course fee is $450. Remember that your freediving certification lasts a lifetime and you never have to get it “renewed” as long as you don’t let your skills get rusty.

  • To enroll in the PADI Freediver course you must be at least 13 years old
  • You need adequate swimming skills (must be able to comfortably swim 218 yards / 200 meters) and be in good physical health
  • No prior experience with snorkeling, skin diving, or freediving is required

When you take the PADI Freediver course with Dive California, you’ll have no more than a 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio. We limit group sizes to 4 students to maximize safety and make sure that you get the highest-possible attention and guidance from your instructor.
