La Jolla Cove Dive with Julian Had an absolutely lovely dive with Julian at La Jolla Cove this morning!! Saw lots of sea lions, some fish and kelp. Julian was very calming, attentive, organized, and great with a fairly inexperienced diver (myself). Dive California was easy to book and is a great outfitter. i would recommend them to anyone looking to dive San Diego! As far as diving in December (I’m from the Midwest and am used to cold weather), i felt comfortable with a full wet suit, a hood, and gloves that Dive California provided. Everything on their website is as advertised!

Kind and perfect course Michael provided a very friendly and detailed explanation of the freediving course. He was thoroughly prepared for both the pool practice and beach sessions. It was the best experience of my life!

Great dive guides for tough diving conditions We’re from India and had never dived in the Pacific before. It’s definitely not an easy dive but Michael and his colleague were very good and made the dive absolutely memorable. The sea lions were a treat to watch and the whole experience couldn’t have been better. I’d recommend them without hesitation

Scuba refresher course I booked a refresher course while in the San Diego area, which was led by Michael. All aspects of the course were excellent - great equipment, attention to detail, and good communication before the course. Having sea-lions join us was a wonderful bonus. To cap it all, Michael is good company. I highly recommend Dive California.

La Jolla Cove shore dive California diving is not for the faint of heart. The water is cold, the currents can change quickly, and 20ft visibility is considered very good when diving from most shores. La Jolla Cove accesses one of the most fantastic underwater parks you’ll find off all of Southern California, and it is shallow which there is the potential for a long dive. However, the entry and exit can be tough, and the currents can be tiering and downright hazardous. I’m experienced in California’s waters, and I have dove La Jolla cove before but I still booked a guide for our first dive with the intention of making another dive with my buddy after. Julian was our Dive Master / Guide and he made safety a priority emphasizing the location specific hazards such as wildlife and currents which was especially important at a place like La Jolla Cove. After the dive he took the time to give my buddy and I advise about our next dive, where to go and what to avoid. The next morning, we saw him again before making another dive and he offered more sound advice. He is not only a solid Dive Master / Guide, but a genuinely good guy who looks after and cares about other Divers. I highly recommend Julian as a Dive Master / Guide and the next time I’m in La Jolla to dive I’m requesting him for another dive.

Who to call when diving La Jolla Cove I would recommend Dive California and would book there again without hesitation. Why? Attention to detail, good equipment, and serious about safety. Michael, owner, responded promptly by phone and email. I booked a two tank dive. Our guide, Julian, was timely and organized. I liked that he took the time to discuss current conditions in the cove, the seriousness of the dive, and safety and shore diving procedures. He also inquired how each diver was feeling that day- smart. Equipment was well planned- my partner and I found that we each had two sizes of wet suit to choose from. I would recommend for ladies signing up for a dive that you notate on-line if you are two different sizes, for example a size 12 on the bottom and size 10 on top or vice/versa. Julian was an excellent guide, frequently turning to check that you still had your dive buddy and that each of you were "OK". We monitored our air throughout the dive. Dive California was safety oriented, and I was satisfied with their equipment. My regulator was well maintained and worked very smoothly. It was a great adventure with wonderful memories. Scuba Refresher Course 10/10 Loved diving with Michael. My husband and I hadn’t been scuba diving since 2019 and needed to take a Refresher Course before our upcoming big trip. Michael did an excellent job helping us get familiar with the equipment and safety procedures. We felt in great hands with Michael as our dive master. As a healthy curvy girl, I appreciated that he brought a variety of wetsuit sizes to make sure I was comfortable while diving. Overall, would recommend Dive California without any reservation. So worth the cost. Can’t wait to go again!

Exceptional Experience!!! I highly recommend Dive California. Our guide, Julian, was professional, extremely knowledgeable and safety conscious, and did an excellent job relating to each diver and working within their needs. As a newly certified diver, my skills need a lot of work, and this experience taught me a great deal, increased my confidence, and was a lot of fun. The 2-tank dive was amazing and geared to all diving levels. HIGHLY recommend to all divers in San Diego!

Very experienced instructor! The 1-1 scuba diving and free diving was amazing. The instructor has 25 years of experience and is responsible so everything was chill and nice, even for a person who is scared of diving as I do.

2 tank guided tour of La Jolla Cove, GREAT GUIDE!!!! I've been looking to explore different parts of California for scuba diving experiences. I booked a 2 tank guided tour with Dive California at the La Jolla Cove and had Julian as a guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with entry and exit for shore diving (my first beach entry for scuba diving). The first dive was great and I saw a bunch of horn sharks and the sea lions decided to hang out with us the entire dive. The visibility did deteriorate on the second dive but Julian made the best of it and took us out to another part of the cove to explore. I would highly recommend DIve California for any of your San Diego scuba diving adventures and/or training purposes.
